History of
Following a Dream
Hello, I am Ann Marie Walts. I would like to provide you with some history that would eventually lead to the opening of The Loft Salon Studio.
Welcome.....and thank you for reading.
I knew when I was 8 years old that I wanted to be a hairstylist.
Fast forward to 1985, I was picked to go to a vocational school in Berlin, PA/ Somerset County.
However, it was not until the very early 90's that I would go to beauty school to become a hairdresser.
Going back about 20 years, while in beauty school I was asked....."where do you see yourself in 10 years"? , and was instructed to write down my thoughts.
I figured that by the 10 year mark that hopefully I would have a foundation of knowledge, and possibly a salon.
In year 11, I opened my original location.
Once I had the first 10 years under my belt, a friend suggested or actually pulled me into educating for Redken.
The energy of the thumping, exciting, loud music and watching the enthusiastic demo platform artists work their magic; is what ultimately gave me enough nerve to try out for a position as a Redken Performing Artist.
After spending almost 10 years educating for Redken, across the county, it was those experiences that provided me with the strong educational background of corrective haircolor and haircutting.
Alot of ground covered, along the way....

• Fashion Week
• Educated & did public speaking on stage in front of 700 people
• Photography published commercially by Redken
• Provided Shades Eq Haircolor Education to Saturday Night Live's Wig Department
• Provided manicuring services to Fashion Photographer Ron Contarsy 2009-2011 while working on high fashion magazine photo shoots in NYC
• Manicured The Kardashians 2010
One Appointment
at a Time
Just you in my chair because I strive to provide personal undivided attention for all services.
In years past, I use to have to double book appointments (not by choice). I really did not like working on such a tight schedule.
Artistically frustrated, I felt that working that way did not allow the necessary time to accommodate my clients requests for "something different."
It felt more like I was just helping my clients "maintain" their styles versus having adequate time to make professional, artistic recommendations.
Upon going into business for myself, I decided to do things differently.
The Loft Salon Studio is very please to offer all of our services with adequate amount of scheduled time, while dedicating our attention to just you.
At a special request from you, wanting to come in with a friend, will I "double book" but that is the only time.
Hence......."No more waiting your turn..."
