Typically you would have to go to several artists to get to experience a head-to-toe makeover. And if you want the most dramatic change to your hair then most likely you would have to get hair extensions.
My Unique Point Of Difference As a very seasoned Makeover Artist, that holds as many certifications as I do, you will find that you can experience be able to get everything you need to be done in the same place.
And my very unique “point of difference” that I can offer to you is that I hold as many certifications that usually an entire salon staff would.
Just From A Photograph
Were you ever asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up, when you were little?”
For myself, I can share with you that I knew exactly what I wanted to be when I was only about 8 years old, and I saw a photograph of a woman’s hair where her own hair was braided into a hair!
Fast forward to today….and I would put money on it that it was achieved by adding hair extensions, or a fake braid.
Since 2001 – Photographing My Own Work
Long Before A Smartphone
Many years ago, I was very much inspired by a hairstyle article that I had read.
It was at that moment that I knew that was what I wanted to do the same, and photograph my makeovers.
And now….that is what I have been doing for more than 20 years. My career has been jam-packed with some very special highlights.
To date, you will find me that I have been on Mass Appeal’s TV show, as a regular guest several, several times.
When you combine close to 30 years of experience and an Artist that craves on going education, then you will get to experience…..THE ART OF A MAKEOVER
Working At Hair shows! ..the beat of the music was infectious.
When you think of your favorite song, I bet it will bring you right back the place or time that makes you so very happy?
I can remember like it was just yesterday, the very first time I went to a hair show. I was in hairdressing school.
There was an electricity on the showroom floor from the music, and I knew that I wanted to find a way to be part of that. Eventually, that part of my dream came true.
Live, Eat, Breath Corrective Hair Color
Not too long after getting into the Industry, I was hired as a Redken Hair Color Educator.
Soon, I would be trained by the best of the best hairstylists in the country. I spent close to 10 years, traveling around the U.S. setting up educational workshops, and working at countless hair shows.
Corrective Hair Color & Customizing Formulas
There is a huge difference in attempting to color your hair, versus customizing your hair color formula. There is a definite science to providing professional hair color, and I absolutely love correcting hair color.
Hair Color Gone Wrong? I wound up becoming self-employed when I was only in the business for about 5 years.
I quickly saw that there was a need to help people like you, that needed your hair color fixed, and that was what I focused on for the first part of my career.
And today, I can probably color your hair blindfolded, and still get goosebumps when I precisely color match your natural hair to seamlessly match your hair extensions!
Today…ALL ABOUT HAIR EXTENSIONS!
AND NOW WHEN YOU FASTFORWARD TO TODAY….you will find that if you are looking to get hair extensions, then you will be able to feel confident that “what you see, is what you can expect, for results!”
Hair Extensions will absolutely transform the way your feel about your hair!
Your hair extension makeover will look seamless, natural, and beautiful because the very first in-depth service appointment is your very detailed, private 1 to 1 consultation.
Your Complete Look….FROM your makeup, fixing your frizzy hair, to making your eyelashes longer……I have you covered.
If you think of how old you were in 2006, and if you are now in your 20’s, then if you are looking for hair extensions, and do not know where to start… I get it. I have been certified by Great Lengths Hair extensions since 2006!
What you may not know is that there is so much more that goes into getting a set of hair extensions that are safe, and done by an expert.
The unfortunate downside of doing your “research” from your phone is that there is TOO much conflicting information about hair extensions, that can just leave you confused.
Many clients that I have serviced in the past 3 to 5 years have shared that they found that my website was a real help because all of the information that it had on it, and the real hair extension photos.
Are Hair Extensions Expensive?
Well, let me share with you that hair extensions are a luxury, first of all. Prices will vary due to how thick your hair is or how long you want your hair to be.
Comparing Price to Experience
If you are only seeking to find the “best price” for hair extensions, then you may be setting yourself up for the most costly mistake.
I have been specializing in hair extensions since 2006, and unfortunately have had to fix poor applications, because clients were looking for the “best price” and just assumed that the salon knew what they were doing when it came to offering hair extensions.
There is a severe difference in businesses that have hair extensions on a salon menu versus a salon that specializes in hair extensions.
Picking Price Over Experience
It is understandable if you are brand new to wanting to get hair extensions, and do not know where to start. As well as, you may be contemplating for the very first time splurging on your hair at a price point that is much higher than your average salon hair color appointment.
The most expensive hair extensions are a set of poorly applied hair extensions. There is nothing more disappointing than saving your money to get a set of hair extensions, and then finding yourself disappointed.
Hair Extensions should not ever hurt.
No one should be able to tell that you are wearing hair extensions.
Hair Extensions should be so seamless that no one can tell you are wearing them, and that would include your best friend. If someone can tell you are wearing hair extensions, then that is not a compliment.
Improperly applied hair extensions are the most expensive extensions.
A poor application can cause headaches, and stress on your fine hair.
Are you trying to decide whether you should get hair extensions, or are you wearing them and are very disappointed?
A Message for Fine Haired Potential Clients:
My heart goes out to you when I, as a professional, have worked with many, many fine-haired clients who are so very disappointed with their hair. Your fine hair struggles can be fixed, but need to be handled with care, and especially when getting hair extensions.
What you want to do when seeking out a salon, for hair extensions for fine hair, is to be sure that they can show you actual photographs.
I professionally feel that one, if not the most important part that you are paying for is how the extensions are attached, and how neatly & safely the hair extensions are attached.
It is said that “YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR”.
I know that I can only speak for myself, and my business; however much of my business has consisted of fixing poor applications from lesser experienced situations.
BONDS TOO BIG are NOT GOOD!
The correction photograph shows bond attachments that were too big and too much hair was applied. It is great to want to have longer and thicker hair, but not at the cost of safety. You do not want to damage your own hair.
The correction- Done by Ann Marie Walts. The photographs shown are examples of my work. This typed of customized bonding is referred to as “micro-bonding”.
The amount of hair being attached should never weigh more than the section of hair that it is being attached to.
“How To” Choose The Best Salon for Hair Extensions and your hair type?
It is extremely important to work with a hair salon that offers hair extensions on a regular basis and can offer you a very detailed consultation.
ONE DESIGN PRICE…….DOES NOT FIT ALL
I have been certified with Great Lengths Hair Extensions for 15 years! They had the best education, out of all of the other brands that I hold certifications.
Hair extensions take time. There are different types of applications.
Clip In – You clip them in daily or as needed
Tape Hair Extensions (Great for trying out hair extensions or if you are a Bride)
Fusion Hair Extensions (By far-BEST option….ALL THE WAY AROUND)
This experience with Ann Marie has been amazing and with her experience and passion for what she does, it was so easy to put my trust into her work. I’m very happy with the finished product and I love my new hair!
Hair Extension for Fine Hair
Megan reached out to me for hair extensions because she felt that her hair lacked body.
Fusion Hair Extensions can last up to 5 months with proper care.
Researching The Internet
She had been researching hair extensions online for awhile.
Once she reached out to me she had shared…”The internet has been confusing! “
ARE YOU CONFUSED, TOO, ABOUT EXTENSIONS?
Yes! I couldn’t agree more with Megan, that there is so much information about hair extensions on the internet now, that it can simply leave you more confused or armed with misinformation.
What helped Megan was my video about….
Do hair extensions damage your hair?
Types of Applications
What method or hair extension application should you choose for your hair?
Answer: My professional recommendation is not to “go it alone” and get fixated on a certain type without the true professional guidance of a hair extension expert.
Fusion Hair Extensions
Unlike “sew-in” hair extensions, fusion hair extensions can be used for correcting a small section of your haircut.
In this example you will see that this client wanted her bangs/fringe to be thicker and slightly longer.
Benefit = Fixing your haircut or changing up your haircut!
Tape Hair Extensions
Tape hair extensions, when done properly, can be very comfortable, non-damaging, and can last 1 to 1. 5 months with proper care.
You can thicken your hair or add immediate length in as little as 1 to 3 hours!
Tape extensions and Fusion hair extensions are very lightweight and are an excellent choiceif you have fine hair.
2020 Hair Extension Tips – Everything You Need To Know
If you are brand new to the idea of getting hair extensions, then is article is for you. I will help explain what hair extension options you will have to choose from and how long they will last.
A Little History
If I can personally speak directly to you, then it would be remiss of me to assume that you know everything about hair extensions. That is my job. Various hair extension companies have certified me since 2006.
My passion and curiosity about hair extensions started when there was just a little bit of a “buzz” about it, 14 years ago. The very first company that I had “heard” of was Great Lengths Hair Extensions.
Since I had only heard great things about their company, and it was the next “it” service for my salon to offer, it seemed like a good idea to take a class. Where I was in my career, at that time, it was just another specialized service to add to my certifications.
Now, in the present day, my “reasons” of offering hair extensions have changed, and I will talk about that later in this post.
Is Great Lengths The Best?
If you are the type of person that has to try different things, or have enough information presented to believe if “something is the best,” then I am right there with you.
As an educated hairstylist, I am curious by nature and wanted to be 100% certain that Great Lengths was the premium brand hair extensionbrand that they claim to be. So, over the years, I then pursued being certified by:
Pure Hair Extensions
What I have personally experienced is that each brand does have its energetic marketing standpoint, and as a stylist, I have found that the two brands that fit my needs are both Great Lengths and Hotheads.
For Starters or Beginners:
Clip-in Hair Extensions
You can take them in and out when you need to wear them
Price ranges $60 per panel to $300+ for a full set
You are better off choosing to purchase 100% real human hair extensions.
The reason why is that you will be able to wash then, curl them, and style them just like you do with your hair.
Investment (Long term better option than Tape Hair Extensions)
Starting at $600 to $4000+
Exact Price by consultation
Why Fusion Extensions?
Now, let me revisit sharing with you why my “why” has changed about having to have hair extensions as a service today! Way back in 2006, was when I first became certified because extensions were just a “trending” service. So much has changed since then.
As an experienced hairstylist and seasoned hair extensionist, I couldn’t imagine not having extra hair to provide to my guests. It is like having “extra fabric.”
If you choose fusion extensions, then you will be able to experience MOST CUSTOMIZATION.
Attachments (human-made keratin) are tiny and lightweight
That is a reasonable question, and the hardest to answer without having a consultation.
You will find that the internet will give you all sorts of information on this topic. However, many of these resources that like to provide “averages” cannot speak for an individual salon. My salon has invested a lot of time and education.
What is the average price of your extensions? Let’s pretend you needed your car fixed, and you were calling in on the phone to find out “how much.” Just like most diagnostic service-based industries, it is impossible to provide pricing without having you go in person.
The same is true when it comes to getting hair extensions.
You will find that prices can vary from salon to salon, and many prices do.
Tips On – Researching Where to Get Hair Extensions
Before and After photographs can speak a 1,000 words!
What you really are paying for when you decide to get fusion hair extensions will be the attachment!
The beauty about highlighting or adding splashes of colorwith hair extensions is that choosing to have it done this way…..will thicken your hair!
Maybe you have wanted to trytape hair extensions, or some extensions but are a little undecided or shy about it.
The hair is 100% real human hair, and it is reusable up to 1 time (With proper care)

Differences Between “Fine Hair” & Thin Hair
Sometimes fine hair and thin hair are confused for each other.
If your hair is so thin that you can see your scalp, then you are not a candidate for hair extensions. However, that does not leave you without any options. Depending on the severity of your problem, you could benefit by learning more about “hair loss solutions”
Fine Hair- The hair itself can be on the “skinny” side. It tends to lack body, and sometimes will be on the straighter side.
Benefits To Getting Hair Extensions
You certainly will feel amazing, and may even find that your confidence level will increase. I have, personally, worn Great Lengths several times and can share with you first hand that I was really amazed at how many times I had received compliments on my hair.

Stamped & Branded
You can rest assured that when working with me & my business that you will get real Great Lengths hair. You would think that this would not have to be brought to your attention, however, with all of the consulting that I do; I hear or learn of a lot of different “stories”.
Great Lengths actually has gone the extra step, as they do with so much, and have hot stamped their name into their product. I was estatic when they started doing this, hear in The States.
How else can you be reassured?
Great Lengths has a salon directory, and not everyone gets to be on it. We have to meet their criteria.
